Hair breakage occurs when a strand of hair becomes dry and brittle. A hair strand contains a central canal known as the cortex, which contains water, making it flexible and elastic. Hair can lose its moisture and break off for several reasons, including aging, vitamin deficiency, oxygen deprivation, food intake, hair styling and medication. In most situations, hair breakage can be stopped.
Aging is the primary reason that hair breaks. The cause of hair breaking is the same as the cause of the wrinkles developing; loss of collagen production. Aging, obviously, cannot be prevented, but breakage can be minimized with the use of collagen supplements and hair care products that contain collagen.
Vitamin deficiency is another culprit of hair breakage. In order to keep hair strong and supple, vitamins such as calcium, iron, copper, zinc and iodine are needed in adequate amounts. Hair breakage can be stopped by taking a supplement that contains one hundred percent of the recommended daily allowances of these vitamins.
Hair styling is also a large cause of hair breakage. Daily routines such as flat ironing, blow drying and curling can dry out the hair cuticle, causing the hair to break. Other habits that result in breakage include brushing hair while it is wet, pulling it into a tight ponytail, braiding, and using a nylon brush.

Whiteheads, a common form of acne, are also known as closed comedones. These raised, white bumps are filled with pus, and can form on the surface of the skin on the face, shoulders, and other areas. The basic cause of whiteheads is clogged follicle openings. Blackheads, or open comedones, occur when sebum and dead skin cells plug up overly large follicle openings, and oxidation causes the plug to turn black. The cause of whiteheads is more or less the same sebum and dead skin cells plug up the follicle openings but, because those openings are microscopically small, the plugs aren’t oxidized, so they remain white.
Knowing the cause of whiteheads makes them easier to prevent. Both open comedones and closed comedones can be prevented with a good, regular skincare routine. Since dead skin cells cause whiteheads, exfoliate at least twice a week to slough dead skin cells away. Cleansing the skin twice a day with a mild, oil-free cleanser will also help remove dead skin cells, as well as remove excess sebum, another cause of whiteheads. Using a facial cleanser that contains alpha hydroxy acid will help to unclog the pores, but most recommend such products only be used three or four times a week.

An ultrasonic facial treatment is used to increase the production of collagen, firm the skin, and help skin cells to cycle more quickly, leading to clearer, more youthful looking skin. This type of treatment is safe for most people to use. Ultrasound is often used on the skin after another type of skin facial, such as microdermabrasion, because it can relieve the swelling and soreness associated with this treatment. On its own, an ultrasonic facial does not cause pain or discomfort but may not improve the condition of the skin as many claim.
There are a few different reasons that patients may receive an ultrasonic facial treatment. It is often used after other procedures, such as chemical peels or facial abrasions, that damage the outer layer of skin. In these cases, ultrasonic treatment has been shown to help decrease pain and swelling. An ultrasonic facial can also be used alone in the hopes that it will eliminate dark spots and fine lines, treat acne and rosacea, and help the skin shed dead cells. If the treatment is able to do these things, it would improve the overall quality of the skin, creating a more youthful appearance.

A Salt Glow (also known as a salt scrub or sea salt scrub) is the most popular body treatment at the spa. The primary purpose of a Salt Glow is to exfoliate your skin. A Salt Glow hydrates your skin because the salt is combined with oil and usually some aromatic like lemon, lavender, or even figs. The Salt Glow is followed by a shower and an application of body lotion, and leaves your skin feeling very soft and fragrant.
A Sea salt glow helps draw the toxins from the body and increases skin blood circulation, promoting the growth of new skin cells. Sea salt, which is laden with minerals, nourishes and hydrates the skin. Most Salt Glows contain blends of natural essential oils that can arouse the senses, revive your mood and make you relax. Marine salts are rich in bromides, which are natural sedatives, so a sea salt scrub can give you a sense of calm and relaxation.
A Salt Glow can bring forward refreshed, glowing, and revitalized skin. The exfoliation process sloughs off dull and dry skin, revealing your fresh and renewed layer. A Salt Glow is also the perfect way to embrace the changing seasons, as it generates heat and natural moisture for some increased benefits. It also improves the blood circulation in the body, as the constant circular motion of the technician improves the flow of blood in that region.

Body Wraps is originally a treatment where Ace bandages or plastic wrap is tightly wrapped around the body to cause quick weight loss through vasodilation. It is a type of beauty treatment intended to result in a reduction in body measurements, involving the application of skin-cleansing ingredients to the body, which is then wrapped in hot bandages.
There are different types of "slimming" Body Wraps, that result in the temporary loss of weight and inches, at some spas. But today a Body Wrap in a spa is more likely to be treatment where you’re slathered with a body mask made of algae, seaweed, mud, clay, lotion or cream, then wrapped for twenty minutes to keep you warm. Later the product is rinsed off. The Body Wrap usually ends with an application of lotion. This Body Wrap treatment is sometimes called a body cocoon or body mask.
Body Wrap begins with exfoliation through dry brushing or a salt scrub. Body wraps that use algae, seaweed, mud or clay are detox treatments that help rid the body of toxins through metabolic stimulation. Body wraps using Shea butter and rich lotions are hydrating treatments geared towards softening the skin.

A gold facial is a type of spa treatment that includes the application of a facial mask made with 24 carat gold foil. This kind of facial can often help to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines for a more youthful appearance. This softer precious metal's composition allows the skin to more readily absorb it. A gold facial can have benefits for both dry skin and oily, acne-prone skin.
A gold facial can help purge the skin of common environmental toxins and reduce the appearance of sun damage. Gold has been shown in some lab tests to speed up the regeneration of skin cells, which can often have noticeable skin brightening effects. Since gold face treatments have detoxifying properties, they can also help reduce levels of acne-causing bacteria on the skin as well as prevent some new blemishes from forming.
The typical gold facial treatment kit consists of both a gold-based cream and gold-based gel that have additional skin-improving ingredients. The gold cream typically consists of 24K gold dust mixed with saffron, honey, and sandalwood powder. This cream is usually followed by the gold-based gel turmeric pack derived from a combination of aloe vera and very thin sheets of gold foil.

A hair weave is a treatment offered in many salons that provides clients with the look and feel of longer or thicker hair. The reason that this treatment is referred to by this name is that artificial or natural human hair purchased by the salon client is woven into the client's natural hair, quite close to the scalp.
Many people decide to get a weave because they want to have longer hair, thicker hair, or because they do not like the texture of their natural hair. The type of hair that is woven into the natural hair can be any color, length, and texture that client chooses. A natural blonde with short curly hair can get a hair weave that will leave her with gold locks all the way down to her waist.
A weave can also be used to accentuate one's natural hair. This type is generally used by people who have straight to wavy hair. If a brunette with shoulder-length hair wanted longer, thicker hair, she could have a hair weave added to add inches and volume to her look. The trick here is making sure that the additional hair matches the natural hair. This type is often referred to as "extensions."
